When riding a quad without Nerf bars, if your foot falls off the foot peg to the rear, the rear wheel will ride up the back of your leg.
Not a nice experience.
If the back of your leg doesn't get chewed up, the wheel will suck your leg between the tire and ground, like a meat grinder.
Then your shin will dig into the foot peg - very painful.
Nerf bars prevent that stuff from happening.
The webbing acts like a gaurd, to prevent your feet from falling to the ground.
Semi - automatic transmission
The quad has an automatic clutch (no clutch lever on the handle bars).
Just give it gas and go, like an automatic trani in a car.
But you have to shift gears with the shift lever (left foot) to go faster like any conventional transmission 1 down - 4 up.
